Not Fast, But Not Last!

Hey Color Vibers! Today we want to spotlight one of our awesome fans, Lisa! Read her personal health journey below!

“I am 49 years old.  Between the ages of 23 & 47 I weighed anywhere between 250-280 pounds, fluctuating with feeble attempts at dieting.  Before I knew it, I could not walk up steps without my knees and hips aching.  I couldn’t exercise because I couldn’t breathe and everything hurt—knees, hips, back and shoulders. I was on medicine for diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol and pain. Finally in February of 2015, I had gastric bypass surgery.  Many think this is the easy way out—after landing in the ICU and staying an extra week for surgery complications, I can assure anyone this was not the easy way. I lost 110 pounds and now take no medicine at all!

I started walking slowly a month after surgery. By summer I was able to walk 3 miles; November I was walking 5-6 miles.  In February of 2016, I was complaining about how long it takes to walk, easily 2-3 hours.  After using the elliptical for an hour, I decided to try and run.  It wasn’t much, but I was very surprised that my knee did not, in fact, EXPLODE! I felt good!  I tried it again that week and did 3 miles in 45 minutes, which was unbelievable.  Three months later, I ran my first 5K with my year old daughter.  Could not believe I made it, and I have never looked back. My motto is “Not Fast, But Not Last”.  Love this new life! Never give up! “
